Oh.
I'm planning a trip to Vietnam.
Actually, the trip is planned and I'm leaving for Vietnam in 9 days!

www.libanvision

Going to fly into Ho Chi Minh City and then travel via private car to Mui Ne. Then on the 25th I take a car to Cam Ranh Airport to meet up with another private car that will take me to Nha Trang which is north of Mui Ne along the coast.

First Mui ne: Staying at the Anantara resort

Mui Ne is mostly about wind-centric water sports - wind/kite surfing. But it's also known for the sand dunes.
This place is going to be cool!

But I'll save that for another post.

2010: Point to point 43 times. I took advantage of the rail in order to enjoy the scenery from the ground: TPA to FLL (across Florida), LON to EDI (stopped in Malvern then N via York - nice station, btw), AMS to Essen (flying makes no sense, 1st class rail yes), Rome to BLQ (1st frecciarossa is nice, large stations under construction, no!). 2011 will hold less, but I still have future flights confirmed!

A couple of weeks ago, I took a trip down to San Diego with some friends.
A pretty simple itinerary. Airport, Hotel, Food, Sleep, Dive, Dive, Dive, Food, Sleep, Zoo, Airport.

It was fun tho I was pretty grumpy cuz of owie teeth. (which I took care of right after the SD trip in the bestest way!)
And before flying out of Oakland airport (instead of San Jose), me n Alexis was in San Francisco running errands and scarfing up yummy stuff at Ti Couz.

I like Tampa airport.
it's easy, it's nice, and it's got free wifi and a smoking area after security.
instead of heading back to california, i decided to stop off in phoenix to visit cookie and steve during their arizona heat fetish party weekend.
i wasn't booked to work or anything, i just figured i'd spend time with them and also enjoy the hot weather (since i didn't get enough of it in florida!)

we shifted over to the hotel for the weekend - that way i could spend more time at the pool. actually, it was more convenient for the party.
i just like going to the pool. it was so hot. and the room i was in ended up having a busted a/c unit. i usually don't like a/c but it's nice to have a little bit of a cool room when it's 110+ outside and around 100 inside.
oh, the main show that night was lords of acid and thrill kill kult. i'd not seen them in ages.

So Mike lent me his car so I could drive up north an hour to Tarpon Springs. I hooked up with Narcosis Scuba to go out with their boat on a dive trip. the water was like 80+ degrees!
unfortunately, the boat had issues so instead of diving, we had to turn back and the trip was canceled. I really wanted to go the next day but that night was also the final fetishcon party. And also, other things ended up making me miss the following day - and no, it wasn't anything related to alcohol or hangovers!

They were really nice though, and if i get back to Tampa, I'll ring them up again (Narcosis)

My year in review.

yes. i realize the year isn't done yet but i've got some changes happening and now is as good a time as any to summarize the past year of travel and work - especially since i've decided it's the right time to move on.
i have some flights booked in the next couple of months. one is a flight from the US to London, the other is a flight from Copenhagen to Vienna, and another for Vienna to Bologna. I'm going to cancel them or else postpone them for a later date (in 2011) and we'll see what happens.
Otherwise, I'm going to be staying state-side for the next few months. I don't want to say that my days of traveling are over, but I will say my days of working as a fetish model are. It's time for a fresh start, yup yup!

One major thing I notice now with my blogging is that it completely went to shit. Too many of my LJ entries are twitter crap.
Well, at least i've stopped the retweets into my LJ. Unfortunately that didn't necessarily keep me posting so there are empty gaps that should have been filled with proper blogging. I need to fix that.
Luckily I do have the moblog so at least I have some sense of where I was during the year without having to sift through hundreds of one-liners.

BTW, clicking on links below will lead to more detailed LJ entries. some have lots of photos in them.

January - I'd been staying local. Not doing much besides going to the Nuthouse. I started using FourSquare and I also had to start up a new FaceBook profile due to being deleted. For NYE i stayed local & didn't fly anywhere exotic. Wow. Exciting. Got to go to dinner with [livejournal.com profile] meico  and [livejournal.com profile] ayia  visiting from Scotland. That was cool. Oh, I also cemented in plans for my big bday bash (taking place in March). I was supposed to perform at another party but since they couldn't take the time to confirm, I decided to throw my own. (and it was awesome). I ranted about models (again) and i saw Up in the Air (and I liked it). Gilles Berquet sent me a book (i'm in it). Oh, I also spent too much time ranting about Alt vs Fetish.
heh.

February - Samar and I flew to Arizona for the fetishball out there. It was great. I was so excited to be at an airport after almost like a billion days of no air travel (it was about 84 actually). and when we got to SJC, it was new and different too! (airports=porn). then in Arizona we hung out with cookie mostly, went out, and i got to swim in a super heated pool and then check out the Desert Botanical garden which gave me a renewed interest in seeing as many Chihuly scluptures as possible during my travels. I also did a lil shoot too. After I got back to Cali, I unpacked and then packed for my flight to Atlanta the next day! That was fun. Hung out with all sorts of peeps, and then jumped on a flight down to Tampa where most of my days were spent in the sun enjoying the weather by the pool and hitting DisneyWorld. Then I decided at the last minute to head over (by train) to Ft Lauderdale to visit Kendra James & Gary.

March - stuff happened. like my decision to 'retire' came into my head. had a huge bday party and almost everyone showed up (ok not EVERYONE). It was awesome. it was great. it was just about perfect. tho samar had a lil accident and [livejournal.com profile] allenfalkner  spent a little more time in the hospital than he wanted to. oh, and at the end of the month, i flew to London (hello British Airways strike!).

April - arrived in London to find my upcoming travel plans to places like Great Malvern & Edinburgh about to be disrupted (hello Rail strike!). Luckily, they were not in the end. yes, flying would have been cheaper but this time it was about the journey! there was a festival in london with a bunch of people into japanese bondage. it was fun. i skipped a fetish party to go see the Royal Philharmonic play StarWars with [livejournal.com profile] craigclare  and it was awesome (but not as awesome as my bday party). Went with [livejournal.com profile] ynl  to see the Van Doesburg avant-garde exhibit at the Tate (and that was awesome too). Spent some time in Worchestershire then headed up to Scotland where I discovered my white latex catsuit covered in stains (lesson: no more lending my shit out to bitches). Then I flew to Amsterdam. The day after my flight trouble erupted! (hello Eyjafjallajokull! btw, if you're actually reading this and you do that thing where you read to yourself but just tripped, here's a little hand: “AY-yah-fyah-lah-YOH-kuul.”) Amsterdam was super and i got to perform with [livejournal.com profile] mirja  at Wasteland. The volcano really screwed stuff up. I took a train to Dusseldorf to catch my flight to Vienna (while constantly keeping track of updates). After checking in to my flight and waiting around to board, it was canceled. I spent too much money cuz of the damn volcano. But eventually flew to Vienna. Then ended up in Bologna. And then finally back to London.

May - Torture Garden Bday - performed with Satomi one night, then the following night had an awesome show with SukaOff. It was awesome (like many other things this year). I went to Holloway Rd to do some shopping and some fucktart FedEx man stole my phone. I chased after him. He got in trouble. Flew to Hamburg for the GermanFetishBall & stayed with [livejournal.com profile] tatsu_otoko  a bit. It was a nice visit! Performed with Amrita (it was super fun) and ran around with [livejournal.com profile] ropemarks  & [livejournal.com profile] sleek_imager  & other friends a bunch! Hung out in the Hamburg airport lounge a little longer than i wanted to but figured out how to spend the time wisely. (Hello again, Icelandic volcano). Flew to Houston (Hello, BritishAirways strike, AGAIN) for the Texas FetishBall & performed 2 shows with Athena Fatale. Hot weather & awesome relaxation time & good hanging out time too! Then back to London for a bit so I could pack for Rome!

June - the last nite of the TG/Ritual Rome party I performed. It was fun too. It was a great weekend even though doing this one performance finally turned me off on the idea of performing anymore. Doing shows like this for so little compensation is just frustrating. I can't work the days after due to soreness and marks. yeah. So this actually turned out to be one of my last show in the EU. I headed up north via train and spent time around northern italy: Ferrara, Modena, Asti.  Even went to this nudist place which was actually very nice (and kick ass weather!). Eventually, back to Vienna, then back to London. Watched a massive amount of World Cup games. I barely missed any!  Saw ron athey discussion with [livejournal.com profile] ynl  which was cool. [livejournal.com profile] gurlesque  was there too. and then back to Texas (Yes, again! Yes, again British Airways issues!) Did a lot of things in Dallas. Performed with [livejournal.com profile] allenfalkner  and then a couple of days later he suspended me. we also did more stuff. Also remembered [livejournal.com profile] olmendoza 's birthday - or what would have been his birthday.

July - ROAD TRIP!!! with Samar. Headed north to Eureka, and then north again. RAWR.Got covered in goo on the beach while wearing BritishPetroleum colours. Flew to San Diego and then journeyed to Ensenada (Mexico-land) to jump on a fucking boat. (do i need to mention the awesome?) Spent ONE - TWO - THREE - FOUR - FIVE - SIX & SEVEN days on the Nautilus Explorer and went diving just about every day! RAWRRRR. Then, gorgeous days spent in San Diego and ComicCon just happened to be around at the same time as was [livejournal.com profile] sissystck  [livejournal.com profile] corruptmorals  and [livejournal.com profile] stevedietgoedde  !

That's good enough for now.

After the week at sea, I spent the next few days hanging out with F and S. I also got to meet her friend S who lived in the area.
( F & S used to live in San Diego).
After the journey back into the US, we all met up at the Sheraton near the airport. Most of the hotels around were full because that same weekend ComicCon was happening.
So then, we ended up heading downtown to have some sushi which was yum.

then we headed back to the hotel for an early night, except I headed over to Shelter Island to the Ramada where I met up with some of the guys from the dive trip. Unfortunately, I forgot to take many photos of the drunks and the ones i got aren't that great.

the next evening we met up with [livejournal.com profile] corruptmorals  and [livejournal.com profile] sissystck  for dinner.  we were joined by S's friend S as well as [livejournal.com profile] stevedietgoedde  too. we got to sit outside and watch the freaks from comic con too. heh.

after dinner we walked up n down the street for a bit before going out separate ways.

the next day me and F & S headed for La Jolla and it was really nice!
we also came across a farmer's market full of yum things.

Then we left La Jolla to visit S's friend S again for dinner. The day continued to be pretty damn nice!

And that was it. Cuz then it was off to the airport...

headed back to ensenada finally.
on the way back we saw a grey whale off in the distance.
then while watching the photo montage the captain spotted a huge pod of dolphins off to starboard so we changed direction to put ourselves into the middle of them... there were 100's!!!

after the dolphins, i went below to pack up my things...

OK> now this is going to be from memory since I just about stopped writing every day while I was on the boat. I was just either too lazy or... too busy! haha. Luckily I have the moblog images and the occaisional tweets that may have helped a bit!

2010 july 21

as usual woke up early and had the first breakfast as we cruised over to the dive site. omg. the water seemed like it was going to be cold too but as we were headed to the Eureka Oil Platform, I decided not going in was not going to be an option.

Woke up early again today as we pulled into Ventura Harbor. Got to check emails but still no real internet access as far as posting things n what not. Nice.

Now back to sea and headed to Anacapa. Hopefully the weather clears up for some better diving today!

 2010 july 20 - anacapa

Cathedral Bay. went down with 3300 up wit 1100. supposed to have giant bass below but didnt see any. sea hare, nudies and cucumbers. lobster shells too. sea lions were swimming along side the boat but didnt see any underwater either. temp was warmer too even tho no sun. around 65 at the surface and 61 at the bottom. only about 40 ft at most. nice enough dive. kelp is always awesome. bit of a current but not so bad near the bottom. around the kelp was more surge tho.
2nd dive a couple hundred metres away. got dressed but enormous cramping started happening so i'm skipping this one. back in bed to sit it out. grrr.

2010 july 19 - san miguel

Early AM rise - 06h00. Showered and then got dressed for the first breakfast and first dive briefing. Lots of sea lions on the surface got me excited to jump in regardless of the much colder temps. Off near the small beach on the island were larger seals. This time used my 1mm suit under the semi-dry. Lots of sea hares and some kelp. Star fish, urchin and a crab. Didn't run into any sea lions among the kelp though. Short dive. Got a bit cold but bearable with the suit. The double layer did end up compressing against my arms though which slowed down circulation so it was constantly in the back of my mind. Oh, and low vis. Not the best dive of the trip so far.

2010 july 19 - san miguel

2010 july 19 - san miguel

About to hit dive spot number two now. I think I'll take a siesta. The sun is still not shining yet. There are still sea lions popping up out of the water. It'd be great to play with them but I can't see jumping in right now.
Second dive underway. Still seem to be the same conditions only even more sea lions popping up above the surface. They seem like they are ready to play and as much as i'd like to play with them it's just too cold and i'm a bit tired. There is the option to lower the kayaks but one of the crew says it's a bit too foggy and difficult to see us if we end up going out too far so they suggested we wait until the next stop. Which is fine.
cuyler harbor. (north) to prince island. 2 dives
Ended up passing out for the 3rd and 4th dives as well. so only one dive for me today in the cold water!

2010 july 18

Awoke this morning with internet service on my phone. Got a quick update on the MotoGP Germany results and headed up to breakfast.
Catalina Island was to our left and we cruised past Avalon and stopped by Long Point which ended up being our first dive site of the day.
I jumped back into my suit and decided to test out Sten's recommendations of last nite. He has the same semi-dry suit. He told me to jump in without any weight which I did. I was unable to even make a short descent. Meanwhile, Frank's drysuit ended up with a hole so he jumped out to fix it. I added 6 pounds to my waist and then tried again. It seemed to work better but I went down a little too quickly. Unfortunately too much current to really dial it in. Oh well, next time. Breakfast! Yum! Eggs benedict!

2010 july 18 - santa catalina

Right now at Goat Harbor for the 2nd dive of the day. I almost fell asleep but bell rang for dive meeting. I'm thinking about skipping this one although I should go and make another attempt at the weight issue. Feeling too lazy though. Grr. Broke a nail on my left middle finger. Craptastic. Fuck it. I go get dressed.
Almost seem to have gotten weight sorted out. 6 lbs around waist and 1000 in the tank. 4 more lbs added to the tank. then 2 more. so back at 12. originally started with 14 on the first day. maybe try again but around the waist. Third dive coming up in 30 minutes. same location. maybe i'll skip this one. we'll see. want a siesta!
Had a siesta and then went down for the 4th dive of the day near Seal Rock. Everything went much better. Saw a raw and a huge pile of spaghetti which i found out was a bunch of eggs for the California Sea Hare. Kelp forests diving is nice. Especially when the sun shines through :)
2010 july 18 - santa catalina

Grilled salmon for dinner tonight. YUM. Bed @ 9pm. Tomorrow headed for San Miguel.

Woke up with the waves hitting the porthole and eventually stopped near the Coronado Islands.

At North Coronado island, we all had breakfast and then geared up for the first dives of the trip and day after the meeting. The water temp was a little warmer than expected.

My diving suit is a new one. It's a ScubaPro 6.5mm semi-dry suit with hoodie and gloves. The boots I'm wearing are Aqualung and don't actually go with the suit but they worked out fine. Steel tank full at 3400 - nitrox. Unfortunately I was weighted down with an additional 14 pounds. First dive of the day felt comfortable enough. Suit works great although there's some leaking at the wrist - the interior of the suit gets wet up to my forearms. At the legs, my ankles and lower calves get wet but the middle part and back are fine as the neck and hood create a pretty nice seal. Initially the water seemed cold but it wasn't really - or else the suit is doing its job quite well! I'd be curious to know how it'd work with the proper boots.
This first dive was pretty awesome, saw a smattering of fish, but also quite a few sea lions that decided to come out to play. One swam around me quite a bit and then at one point when I was near the bottom, one swam up under me and stopped. Then while I looked at it, it started to do some barrel rolls while keeping eye contact! Fun! It seems like if you react to play with them they stick around. If you do nothing they get bored and swim away to find someone more engaging that will play with them. :-)

2010 july 17 -  between the coronado islands & san diego

Second dive was pretty much the same but saw a few other things. This time though, I was having problems equalizing with my right ear. Eventually it got sorted out. Saw some sea hares and other large slugy things. Again, then sea lions came out to play.
Both dives went well enough during, but near the end I was having problems popping up too quickly around 20-25 feet. Seems the issue might be the BC - need to try and completely dump the air out of that thing, also, i'm sinking too quickly. Need to drop some weight.
For the 3rd dive of the day, the ship cruised over to some kelp beds. I skipped this dive.
Then we headed into the USA and into Shelter Island in San Diego to go through customs. After that, back to sea!

woke up early and dad and uncle jack dropped me off at SFO.
2010 july 16 - SFO to SAN

United Airlines. meh. middle seat. short enough flight tho and uneventful which is always good.
Landed at SAN and the weather was great! F showed up about 30 minutes later and from there we took a cab to the Ramada at Point Loma where the other divers were all meeting up. Departure time for Ensenada wasn't for a few hours so we took a walk over to Point Loma Seafoods for a bit of late lunch. YUM! Good karma came into play too! As we were walking to toss away our rubbish, I took a hesitant step, looked down at my phone, and avoided some avian bombs that fell just a foot in front of me! yippee!

2010 july 16 - san diego

We still had plenty of time so took a walk towards Shelter Island along the waterfront and enjoyed the view.

2010 july 16 - san diego

Eventually headed back and then decided to have early dinner at a great resto called Old Venice. YUM! (again).
Again, walked back to the Ramada where a few of the divers were upstairs at the bar.
Eventually the coach arrived and we all loaded up for the drive to the US/Mexico border.

There we were stopped and were selected to go through the process so all the bags were unloaded and checked as well as our passports. A little less than 2 hours later we were en route to Ensenada. A few people slept while I watched Top Gear with some divers from New York :-)
Finally, we arrived. Everyone boarded the boat while the crew loaded up our luggage. Jumped into the shower and then climbed into bed while the boat rocked me to sleep.

once again i'm behind on the blogging.
And once again i'm awake early due to jetlag.
So maybe it's a perfect time to make an attempt at posting something in here but too much has happened to cover all of it so instead i'll end up making a half ass attempt to write anything to fill the space - at least that's what usually happens. Perhaps this time I can write something worth remembering?

Either way, I'm currently in Texas now. Dallas to be exact and staying with [livejournal.com profile] allenfalkner . I actually flew in to San Antonio after a DFW connection to shoot there for a day, then headed directly back to Dallas. I can't recall if I've ever visited here before. I know I've never performed here but on Sunday that will change. I'm going to attempt to do the show I did in Rome a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to figure out how to get around the nudity issue. Sometimes being back in the US is really irritating. But come to think of it, San Antonio & Dallas are two new cities I can now add to my list of places I've worked and SAT, DFW (?), and DAL are 3 new airports I've been to. I really need to take advantage of today and find something touristy to do! Any suggestions? The weather is hot and full of sun and it'd be stupid to spend it in front of the computer all day.

I'm certainly enjoying these bounces into Texas. Funny how just last month (19-24 May) I was in Houston. It's find it odd how after never (or rarely) traveling to an area all of a sudden I do two visits in the space of so little time. I'm not complaining though. I enjoy the heat and this domestic travel is helping me to appreciate being in the USA (ie. not hate being in the US).

In other small news, I think I'm going to have to seriously consider going back to virgin atlantic. the last 4 flights with british airways have left me wanting.
here's a shot from 2010 may 19 of my LHR to IAH flight.
*Reminder: I'm lactose intolerant so I keep a BA profile which states I require a non-lactose meal.

Houston, though it took place a month ago, deserves it's own post. So i'll do a new one for it.
I also need to write new emails to British Airways about the last series of flight experiences.

One good thing about the jetlag is that I keep waking up early without any problems.
This is great because I'm awake on time to watch the WorldCup matches happening.
I can't believe Italy, the current world champions, were knocked out. I can't believe the runner's up to the championship for the last WC (France) not only failed to make it out of the group round and acted like spoiled infants.
I can't believe the US made first in its group over England! Both were great last games!
It'll be interesting to see the upcoming matches. This am it's Portugal against Brazil!
Actually the past matches were great too.
I didn't think i cared much about North Korea but watching them play against Brazil was amazing.
Especially how the defense prevented Brazil from scoring at all until the 55th minute of the game.

For some reason, I like this image

hanging out in the airport lounge
was a totally good idea considering all the volcano ash drama occurring again.
tho now i'm going to have a tummy ache from all the pickled onions and little bruscheta things i've been eating.
the kiwi is pretty damn yummy tho.

the flight was originally for 18h00 but was pushed back til 20h45.
easyjet gave me a voucher which i used on yummy caramel icecream/gelato

the flight is now delayed until 21h30 but apparently the flight HAS left london and has almost arrived to hamburg.
phew!

unfortunately, Roswell_ivory's 21h30 flight to Gatwick isn't going to be on time. the plane hasn't even left london yet.
---

ok. i was mid-post before. then had to rush to the gate for boarding.
ended up changing her flight to mine by being sweet and adamant so she didnt have to spend the night in hamburg...

now, back at the flat in london.
tomorrow, some errands and packing for Texas - ash willing!

I attempted to fly from DUS to VIE on april 20th.
the flight was canceled in the end and I had to fly out the next morning.

I don't think i've seen an airport so quiet - except for some crazy 4am type of thing.
but then, even at that hour, it doesn't have the same feel of emptiness.

and since debs was driving, she waited until we shifted the party to hers.
