samaritan girl

a lil slow
pretty colors sometimes
tho sometimes annoying.

typical of korean movies (they can get pretty sad)
and some scenes, a whole lotta blood.

Wow... That looks really good.

I've seen probably too little Korean cinema. I did get to see "A Tale of Two Sisters" last fall and really enjoyed it and it did fit in well with your "sad and occasionally very bloody" summary.

Come now, she's wearing white! She just HAS to get it dirty! haha

[identity profile] styggian.livejournal.com 2005-09-16 03:58 pm (UTC)(link)
We found this whole slew of Tartan dvds at this comic shop at that was one of them.
We were going to try to watch them all this weekend.

[identity profile] styggian.livejournal.com 2005-09-16 03:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know about that.
Did you see the movie "Versus"?
The girl was wearing a white dress and constantly being shoved to the ground, but she never got dirty.

[identity profile] vilia64.livejournal.com 2005-09-16 04:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, maybe she just kept changing her dress when no one was watching- haha
I hate those little mistakes in films

[identity profile] styggian.livejournal.com 2005-09-16 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I think it was supposed to be a statement sbout her "purity" because she was special.
Her virginal blood could open the door to the 33rd Gate or something, I can't remember.
Good movie though, almost as ridiculous as the original evil dead.

[identity profile] kumimonster.livejournal.com 2005-09-16 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
of course it's not in the movie

heh

[identity profile] kumimonster.livejournal.com 2005-09-16 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
i ilked it OK
i had to go back and look at some parts

like, if some guy was following me around, i'd smack him
not jump out of my window
hell, the guy had a family to support!

[identity profile] kumimonster.livejournal.com 2005-09-16 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)

[identity profile] kumimonster.livejournal.com 2005-09-16 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)

[identity profile] styggian.livejournal.com 2005-09-16 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)

You are the Queen after all. :)

[identity profile] styggian.livejournal.com 2005-09-16 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll have to make a list.
We got seven or eight of them.
I bought "Skyhigh" today.
Really good.

[identity profile] kumimonster.livejournal.com 2005-09-16 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
white catsuit...

[identity profile] styggian.livejournal.com 2005-09-16 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Sounds like a quest in the making then.
"Kalifornia Kumi and the search for the Latex Perfection."
You'll need a latex Fedora and a whip.

I've really luved this movie. It's ne of my Kim Ki duk favourite movie *_*
I've seen it in v.o. sum times ago. I'haven't seen the italian version. Usually they do very bad cut on asian movies :(
I really would like to know what do you mean when you say "annoying" :) [curious mode/on]

[identity profile] kumimonster.livejournal.com 2005-09-17 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
i just meant it was a bit unbelievable.

how the girl acted at times. or how the dad acted.
or even how the dad that killed himself acted.

also, it got to be a little slow

and of course, like a lot of korean movies
VERY Depressing and sad!

[identity profile] pr3ttylu5h.livejournal.com 2005-09-17 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
Uhm thank you so much. I find your point of view very interesting. Yeah some of the characters' attitudes are quite surrealistic... and this kind of acting just makes impossible to label someone as "the villain" or "the hero".
I haven't seen many korean movies [they're not very popular in Italy, and almost impossible to find]. I've just watched those from Kim Ki Duk, Chan Wook Park and a movie called "Friend" [actually I can't remember the director's name :P], but I have to agree with you: at the 95% of the times they're fuckin sad!
P.S. I beg your pardon for my bad bad bad english -_-°

I was just looking for the dvd! Did you see The Isle?

[identity profile] styggian.livejournal.com 2005-09-20 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
This is the aforementioned list of movies we picked up.
"Phone", "KOMA", "Wishing Stairs", "Samaritan Girl", "Sorum", Whispering Corridors", "A Tale of Two Sisters".

"Wishing Stairs" and "Whispering Shadows" are two in a series of three.
