[livejournal.com profile] stevedietgoedde is 40 now!
happy fucking bday!

so then, first up:
Chinatown
so sometime ago
it's been just about 10 years now!
my buddy molly had this guy come out to take photos of me and this girl.
he flew in from Chicago too.
well, i went out and partied the night before.
and so did the other girl we were supposed to shoot with.
i didn't want to flake so i decided to suck it up and shoot regardless.
But the girl cancelled in the morning so i made an early call to a friend named Midori.
i stuck her in my latex dress, and i yanked on mine and then we headed off to chinatown.
Damn i DID NOT feel well that day!
especially after hardly any - er, no rather - sleep at all!
In summary, the shoot went well.
the latex dress i wore in the shoot i retired. i'd worn it all over the place and it was old.
i gave it to SDG.
and after that shoot, the dress was featured in various magazines.
then, a whole ton of PVC or latex chinese styled dresses appeared in fetish stores all over the place.
the dress that midori wore i gave to her as a gift a few months ago.
there was a postcard set that featured classic images as postcard size prints and it sold on ebay for over $700.

our next couple of shoots took place in san francisco as well...

Pier 39
A very chilly and crowded weekend day at Fisherman's Wharf while I stumbled about in a very short pair of red latex shorts and a tight sailor top.
i have this outfit still. it still fits though there's a tear in the latex near the bottom of the shirt. sometimes i'm able to tuck it into the shorts. but hey. it's 10 years old so the white shirt has faded a bit, as has my 20 something year old body.
a very pin-up themed shoot considering i never really considered myself to be into doing pin-up themed shoots.
there were a few popular shots that came from this shoot, and some images have been used recently in magazines like Tease.

goldgate park
golden gate park where a busload of chinese tourists snapped photos of me in c-thru latex,
clint catalyst had on tight ass red latex pants. he was quite thin then.
shots from these images ended up being on a TG flyer in london.

dore alley
dore alley where i found out i could do the side splits on the hood of a car while wearing latex.
some of my favorite latex pieces from SoHipItHurts were in that shoot, including racing styled pants with quilted kneepads.
i still have my shirt with the 4-leaf clover on it, but the pants had a blow out :-(.
i gave those to SDG to keep with the red latex chinese dress which is probably a melted red glob of goo right now.
i was thrilled to find an image from this shoot (along with a chinatown image) featured in Zoom magazine (photography publication out of italy) on two full oversized pages.

marquis
the other shoot we did in those first few times of meeting up in SF was really simple as far as location goes.
All it entailed a backyard with a black sheet placed on the concrete ground.
YES, the ground was cold. and YES, it pained me to keep my eyes from squinting as i looked up into the bright overcast sky.
i think it was the fact that the eyelash glue that got onto my eye didn't help things.
more time was spent on the make up than taking the actual photos i think.
the slides were sent to Marquis magazine, and i ended up on the cover.
i still have this dress, and it fits still. As long as i dont move around too much or eat a large meal before hand!

of some interest:
Inside, very few of the "FetishModels" that most people are famliar with today unless they've been around i suppose.
Shots of the TG parties (pigalle is in a pic), Bianca (peter czernich's muse with the hottest legs and ass), NY events with shots of the Baroness and a young Dita, and of course a spread featuring SoHipItHurts shot by SDG.
In July 1997 Gunter Blum died, and there's a story on his last book, Retrospective.
new photographer emma delves-broughton won 4th place in the reader's contest.
oh, and even then, Marquis was selling seamed rubber stockings. I wonder why they're only getting so popular now?

anyways, now i bore you with old photos that you may not have seen before !

me, steve, midori, and shit-i-cant-belive-i-forgot! ----- A perfect BTS shot. sdg getting that perfect postcard image.

i was sneering even back then. maybe the cold! ------ Group shot! me, molly, sdg, kim, & rick in front of the car i crawled on.

me n stevo. i look bald & young still ------ me and clint catalyst. uber goth shoot ----- that cover! no bts shots tho. too bad.

aside from molly and people like paulC, i kinda think i've known you the longest out of the people around us nowadays!
i do appreciate everything you've done, as a friend and photographer. Just the other day I remebered how you came down with [livejournal.com profile] ivy_red when i was feeling particularily distraunt a couple years ago.
I also appreciate everything we've been able to accomplish as well. The shoots we had so long ago created the popular images that have been used in a variety of publications. Those images were the ones that first established my status as a recognizeable international fetish figure - although many didn't realize that the model actually was one person because of the different looks!
They were well-received and remembered so well, that i was even allowed to remove myself from doing fetish shoots in order to do other things.
And now that I've been back for a couple of years now, I still can remember how exciting it was to see those images side by side in magazines featuring those great photographers I thought were so far away and unattainable. I've done quite a few more recent shoots with other photographers that have produced some great images. And yet, those once-unattainable photographers that I've contacted remember the ones that you shot!

Personally, i figure what we do cannot be compared to those that i favor in the photographic industry (you know, capa, cartier-bresson, mccullen, burrows).
I guess all we can hope for is to be able to keep creating images that can convey as much of a legacy for ourselves and our creativity in the future.
and make some fucking money from it too. recognition is nice, but eating well is better.
well, as much as old age allows us!
plus, i'm going to be done with this soon and i can't model forever.
though i suppose you can keep taking pictures until you become the dirtiest and oldest fetish photographer out there!

keep it natural!
;-)
Happy 40th Birthday!

Man admits killing model
Mississauga woman died after porn shoot in Pennsylvania
U.S. photographer says in affidavit that he stabbed her

BOB MITCHELL
STAFF REPORTER
A Pennsylvania photographer has admitted killing Canadian adult entertainment model Natel King, according to court documents.

But Anthony Joseph Frederick has now implicated his assistant, Jennifer Mitkus, in the attempt to cover up the stabbing death of the 23-year-old Mississauga woman last year.

Frederick told investigators Mitkus stabbed King twice after she was already dead, according to an affidavit filed with the Montgomery County court on Monday.

Frederick is still scheduled to stand trial Feb. 28 for King's murder.

"The trial is going ahead as planned," Montgomery County District Attorney Bruce Castor told the Star yesterday in an interview. "We still don't know why she was murdered."

Frederick is charged with first-degree murder, third-degree murder, possession of an instrument of crime (a knife), unsworn falsification (lying to authorities) and abuse of a corpse.
