"Last year I spent 322 days on the road, which means I had to spend 43 miserable days at home."
So say's George Clooney's character in that film Up in the Air which a lot of people have mentioned to me and suggested that I watch.
Well 2009 I ended up having a huge dry spell during the summer and hardly traveled at all between June 15 - Sept 16 (aside from trips that I took in my car). That's 3 months. Then there was that period from mid-November thru the rest of year.
That's a lot of non-travel.
In any case, the movie made me want to take a count.
I think I did better in 2008 - and possibly 2007. Maybe if I find the time, I'll take a look and count it up but for now:
Last year I spent 204 days on the road which means I had to spend 161 miserable days at home.
So far, I like this film but the airport scenes really make me want to start the rituals of traveling again.
Of course, I don't have a fancy concierge card with american airlines 1st class service, but i still like the airport parts.
And as far as security line stereotyping, I've found his assessments to be pretty much true so far.
