Of course you take lots more planes trains and automobiles than me, but I totally sympathize with the feelin. Being met at the airport is so much better. The time we had people seeing us off at the gate in Europe is long gone, I guess. Whenever I'm in the States it's weird to find your friends waiting at the luggage pick-up though. I still find it freaky that just anyone can walk up to the conv belt and take a peek at all that luggage. On tv we have a few shows that just hang out in airports, talking to people waiting for people to come through that door, or seeing people off. Some tragic, some exstatic.
Oh, and I would have dropped you off at Essen, if it weren't so frikken middle of the night... I'll try better next time ;-)
