so class was nice tonite...
enlightenment historians, progressives, and the annales school.
had to read an essay all about cock fights in bali and how the cocks are just an extension of the male um.. well, the male.
hah. in more ways than one.
of course this was all disguised as a study of culture by an anthropologist who was trying to show how history needs to be studied and written about using interdisciplinary methods.
social and social-economic history, etc...
yea. it was good tonite.
last nite got to watch rerun of bush's speech all the way thru while
misscon drove the computer.
woke up today and watched a neat show on mtv.. something called my life and there was this korean girl on the segment talking about how koreans have a cultural urge to fit in or be more americanized - if not now, then some time ago. Many decided to go under the knife to get their eyes done so that they can have a fold in them. i guess it's a slight generation thing - or maybe not... i know my mom wanted to at one point. but the girls in the show were more college aged.
wanted to sit n chill but had to go home n get school stuff.
while there, packages arrived for
misscon. shoes were involved but she passed em over to me since she didn't care for them.
when i got home, i tried them on with one of my dresses that i bought long ago and have yet to wear because i couldnt find shoes to match. Mom came by and wanted to see them so i took them off and showed her. She ended up walking away in them and checking herself out in the mirror. She also told me 'thanks very much! i love this bday present!' ARGH! her bday was yesterday... grrr.
miu miu shoes too. nice slides with maybe a 1 1/2 inch heel...
came home from class this evening. when i walked by the tv room, pops said to me, 'damn that was a nice bday gift...'
grrr. i think my mom is trying to lay claim and reinforce the idea of me ceding this battle!!
hmmmm
