so jumped in the bath today after tossin n turning from waking up too early.
the bits on my shin where the skin came off was kind of stinging.
still kind of funny how i totally biffed it.
heh.
the thing is, usually i get bruises n i dont remember how. (not necessarily because of booze)
i'll remember this at least.
i've always been afraid that someday i'd trip on those stairs... didnt think i'd be gently pushed down them (on accident).
after a few years it was bound to happen!
at least i've gotten that part over with.
but walking around today was a bit tender.
Fred (dude from Photo) ended up leaving the party at like 6am he said. so he was pretty beat too but he beat me to the Quai de Valmy (near the Juares station). When I got there, David (from Glasgow that I usually see at London parties in House of Harlot) also joined us after we told him about the event last nite. He was happy to check it out.
It took place in some sort of warehouse building that you had to enter by walking down to the road along the water. There was a nice sized seating area with a bar and then rooms to either side. the one to the left also had a stage.
Finally figured out what the event was called: "
DIY Boogie" at the
Point Ephémère (Centre de Dynamiques Artistiques).
they have a myspace too. it's
here.
all sorts of funky art in the form of fanzines, poster things, people on stage making noise while sucking on cigarettes and other things i dont actually know how to describe. i did see a couple dressed up with powder wigs and white face though.
i'm not certain how the hanging art stuff on the wall and blowing cigarette smoke at it works but oh well.
i went there to see Gilles Berquet, Mirka Lugosi, the
Human Toys, and also meet Marie-Laure Dagoit.
She's a writer/publisher that runs
Derriere la Salle de Bains.

source.
here's an interview with her at
La Spirale.
Basically little small books, daintily and carefully put together with a lot of feeling and full of a lot of well, sexual things.
Mirka often does the accompanying drawings or Gilles the photographs.
I got my friend
Agnes a little booklet entitled "Le Pubis Rasé et Frais" (the art on the front is by Mirka: a nude woman covering her lower bits while wearing super high heels next to a little cushioned stool with all sorts of accessories coming off of it that resemble penetrating devices).
I also got a few copies of a booklet called Angélique. I happen to be on the cover. Gilles signed one for
stevedietgoedde.
They had these very cute gift card packets featuring John Wilie's drawings of girls in simple black and white bondage scenes.
I got a couple of those.
Gilles gave me a copy of his new book "Mirka" which also includes a DVD full of stuff.
They both signed it and Mirka also sketched in it a bit.
I got to meet artist and super cute redhead
Luh. She modeled a bunch for guys like Eric Kroll and Gilles Berquet and Choraqui (seems like before all the photoshoppy).

Fred, David, and I went to go eat up the street a bit. yum yum.
then back on the metro.
i am really lame sometimes.
i should have booked my return to london via train. it would have been much more cheaper and convenient, (st pancras is a LOT more closer than heathrow and the ride by taxi is 3 times cheaper). it's only a 2h15 ride as well. damn. well, next time.
although i *could* still do it. though it would cost about $240 (biz class). i might as well just use my BA flight that i have and remember to choose eurostar for this type of trip... AND booking in advance makes things even cheaper too.
grrr.
