so um, I just won tix to the SF Symphony's new Davies After Hours night (and the concert prior)

I guess Battlestar Galactica will just have to wait a bit!

Part performance, part reception, Davies After Hours offers concertgoers the opportunity to enjoy musical groups of other genres reflecting on that night’s program, in the nightclub-like atmosphere of a transformed top floor of Davies Symphony Hall. 

Davies After Hours: a new live-performance/post-concert party in the Second Tier Lobby after select SFS concerts. With its open air balconies, stunning views overlooking City Hall, and specialty drinks at a cash-only bar, Davies After Hours is a unique after-party designed to draw parallels between classical music and the many other popular styles that thrive in the Bay Area. It is free for all ticketholders to concerts held on March 20, April 24, and May 22.
 

Friday, Mar 20 Concert: Luisotti conducts Brahms's Fourth Davies After Hours: Alex Kelly featuring the Mark Growden Sextet Following the Symphony performance, San Francisco-based cellist Alex Kelly and Friends—featuring multi-instrumentalist Mark Growden, Chris Grady on trumpet, Myles Boisen on guitar, Seth Ford-Young on bass, and Jenya Chernoff on percussion—perform in the Second Tier Lobby to kick off the Davies After Hours series. Kelly has performed with and composed for many orchestras, chamber orchestras, new music ensembles, string quartets, cello quartets, jazz combos rock bands, Klezmer/Balkan bands, dance companies and circus troupes throughout the United States and Canada for the past 20 years. His musical styles range from Renaissance to Romantic, and from avant-garde to rock. In the past 12 years he has premiered over 150 new solo and chamber works and has recorded on over 100 albums.
