anyone know any hot ass azn biznatches in vegas?
i need to set up a shoot with another girl.
yea. it's paid.

no dentist for me this AM.
of course they called me at 8:30 and woke my ass up.
i was up so late last nite too since i couldnt sleep for some reason.
maybe it was the JD.

i just stayed up to watch awful news coverage that talked only of michael jackson
there was a small interuption to talk about the bombing of the British Embassy in Istanbul though.
but then, back to Jacko
then a teeny bit of anti bush stuff and protests in the UK.

tho i must wonder...
i questioned the anti war protesters that clogged up streets here inthe U.S. a while ago and cost the governments of our various cities millions of dollars in police and other necessary services to prevent the complete shutdown of the city.
not sure what it's really like over there, but i still question many protestors in general. i find it amusing when i see the really young shown on the monitors though. i mean here, many marched and ran amok cuz they could. not cuz they really did know what the hell was happening besides what they media would blantantly point out repeatedly and what their friends would say. there's no historical background research into what has gone on and how we got into the mess in the first place. there are people like that everywhere i suppose that are really great at bolstering up negative sentiment about someone or something. too bad bush is so easy. too bad he's so backwards. anyways, every year tests are given and most of the students in schools cant even fucking find the pacific ocean, much less be able to know where the hell the cradle of civilization is. so i wonder how much do they really know?

so a few years ago, saddam begin to refer to bush as hulagu khan. but i wonder how many people actually caught and understood the implication of that name? it's not like he was giving mr bush a compliment. bah.

*think genghis khan, then kublai kahn, then hulagu. in 1258 he invaded and then sacked bagdhad and removed the last abbasid caliph from the throne - ok well he just killed everyone actually.

but hey. i suppose we can look at it from a positive point of view. at least people begin to learn more and more about geography whenever a war breaks out somewhere.
and protests annoy the shit outta me. but at least this means bush is not here and we can focus our attention on the other freak in the news

bah. grrr
ok must go write final questions for vietnam class. grrr

I'm an anti-rally kind of girl. No protest signs, no shouting at cops for me. I learned that the powers that be monitor your activities quite closely once you stand up for something and let that be known.

BUT ... when the huge-o anti-war protests were being held in SF more recently, my favorite co-worker and I did take to the streets to be two more bodies amongst the thousands -- and to demonstrate in a city-sanctioned march.

Sometimes there is power in numbers. I think about the 1960s Civil Rights Movement, the anti-apartheid movements, Gandhi, Tiannamen Square, etc. I believe very strongly in civil disobedience ... and the right to freedom of speech, which is now severely limited. (Even Newt Gingrich is against the Patriot Act. Go figure.)

I was on a Jet BLue flight to D.C. in March when Bush's 24 hour countdown ended. When I got to my hotel in DuPont Circle, the bombing of Iraq had begun. That whole week we were making our rounds on Capitol Hill, noticing the POW-MIA flags flying outside of Congressional reps' offices, Hummers with anti-aircraft guns mounted on their roofs oustide of gov't buildings, police officers arresting a man in front of us who stood in front of the White House straddling a bicycle holding up his fingers, making the gesture for "peace."

I remember Rep. Bordallo from Guam telling us that we should pray for "our boys" who were out fighting the war for us. I stayed silent. Not my war.

It was odd that there was NO publicity on D.C. news stations or CNN or the Washington Post about the protests in SF -- Market St. shut down, commutes snarled for hours. And when we called home, our families were reporting the drama to us ... and calling it a waste of time and energy.

Sometimes protests are not well-orchestrated and simply anger the fence-sitters.

Sometimes it seems as though the only way of making an opinion heard is a protest. I prefer a peaceful protest and I don't view the police as enemies in that situation.

The protest I took part in was on a cold February day. There was no thrill in being out there because I could. Feeling my feat again later was thrilling enough. No, I suppose I don't know more than what I heard and read through the media but I knew there wasn't enough justification for war and so far I'd say that I was correct.

Someone else has already stated the historical effects of protest. I didn't expect those protests to make any difference at all but I did hope a little.

Of course, the millions spent on police is lamentable. Still if by some strange chance the war had been postponed, think of the savings.
