5.8 magnitude quake jolts southern Greece

ATHENS, Greece: A 5.8 magnitude earthquake rattled southern Greece on Saturday, the Athens Geodynamic Institute reported. No damage or injuries were reported.

The quake occurred at 3:43 p.m. (1343GMT). Its epicenter was 45 kilometers (28 miles) southwest of the island of Kythera, and about 265 kilometers (164.67 miles) southwest of Athens.

The quake was felt in the Peloponnese and in Athens.

Greece lies in one of the world's most seismically active regions.

U.S. senators briefed on embassy attack in Greece

ATHENS, Greece: A group of U.S. senators was briefed Monday on a Jan. 12 rocket attack on the American embassy in Athens, and thanked the government for its response.

No one was hurt in the attack claimed by a far-left Greek militant group Revolutionary Struggle, whose members fired a rocket propelled grenade at the embassy and damaged a restroom on the third floor of the building.

We drove by the embassy on the way to the theater to see Swan Lake...
That's another story.

--------------------------------------------------

After a late start on the opening night, then a complete cancellation of the 2nd night's show (the 1st of Feb when we arrived), we tried to use our tickets for tonight's show. All shows are canceled again until Wednesday (a week after the opening night)

According to other review sites, the opening night show was continuously interrupted with constant and lengthly breaks. A two and a half hour show ended up taking 5 hours with audiences leaving before the end of the show. Despite the great dancing, one person commented, it was still difficult to even keep their eyes open with all the stops to fix technical issues.

Saturday night's show went on. But again with interruptions to fix the technical problems.

[livejournal.com profile] ostanine read someone commented that CATS also had issues at the same theater.
The new high-tech theater designed to accommodate shows like this.

I only wonder what the producers and players are dealing with right now. Ten years of putting on this show and then all this crap. So much advertising and hype, all for a big fiasco. I've yet to find an official statement on the cancellations.
