Eureka, as i mentioned before, was super!
but then eventually i had to drive home and that was awesome too,
it took a while but i wasn't rushed and i got to really check out the scenery since it was dark by the time i got that far north on the drive up.
i stopped off in leggett to play tourist and check out the drive-thru tree.
i didn't drive thru tho. just took fotos.
(moblog photos are from Sept 02 - more at the moblog as usual)

i ended up with a tan, but also stupid lines.
shoulda drove without the straps on my top earlier

fucking awesome view in real life. my camera sucks

quick marina detour

uphill n downhill

right in front of city hall some healthcare people were demonstrating.
saw really cute cops
but then realized i was kind of weird looking with the pink hair on and they were like really normal cute.
then did the rest of the drive listening to blondie and the beach boys.

by the time i reached palo alto my butt was partially asleep!

Wow. Many years ago I had a 79 300 SD Turdo Diesel! It was one of the few cars that I owned that I really loved.

The Redwoods fill me with awe and happiness.

That view of SF was the first i ever saw of it. i was on a greyhound coming in from Santa Rosa in 76 and my friend woke me up so i could check it out. it was afternoon in late Septemeber so the light was brass and magic and i will never forget it.

You look good behind the wheel.

yeah, i think that's how i was kind of feeling too,a
and seeing SF like that is always just breathtaking

a great reminder of how super living in california is each time i forget to appreciate it!

Yeah, i grew up in this shithole (http://images.google.co.uk/images?source=ig&hl=en&rlz=1G1GGLQ_ENUK246&=&q=big+bear++lake+ca&lr=&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wi) (it looks good, but believe me...)and then moved to SF for a few months (upstairs from here back before it was cool. A real SRO dive) and then Sacramento off and on and on.

I could leave So. CA and never go back and be happy(except maybe Santa Monica and the rest of the beach communities), but i really like No CA.

Even so, I like da kine English wethah mo bettah.

People over here in London ask me if the weather bothers me, and nobody ever believes me--even though I mean it--when i tell them that having nothing but blue over your head for the whole summer gets boring as fuck (same as having four months of Tule Fog in the winter), and that I like this part of the world where i can have four days' worth of weather crammed into one.

if you get a chance next time you're up there try to take a few days to visit the lost coast (http://www.blm.gov/ca/st/en/fo/arcata/kingrange/index.html) - it's absolutely amazing. great backpacking trails with beautiful views of the coastline, and the mountains along there. take a truck or rent a jeep so you can drive out to some of the more remote areas.

mind if i add you and stalk your journal?

stalk away! :D

i'm not one for nature based trips
aside from scuba diving type things

but it might be worth it.
i did some backpacking in the past, but in the end, i'm just a big lazy cow!!

scuba huh? you haven't scuba dived unless you've been in the kelp forests in monterey bay...

+ thats why i said rent a jeep...i'm all for driving instead of hiking too!

I've seen film of those kelp forests and it makes me want to live down in the water with the otters and the abalone...

(this footage is from down around santa catalina)

i've never been to santa catalina island, but i've wanted to for a while now. maybe if all goes well with this job interview, i'll be able to make regular trips there.

+ theres nothing like being in the ocean just a few feet from otter mommas and their pups - the pups just swim right up all curious, and the mommas come over, grab them and pull them back!
